Were I a guessing man, I'd say that the Mountain Duck software only works in user mode. I.e., you have to be logged into windows, and then anything that is controlled by MD is visible to explorer or apps. Because KC runs as a service, I would expect it to need the storage to be available via the OS device level (as seen in device manager) or via a share (\\myserver\backups). Depending on the size of your mailstore, you might find that an external USB drive, and a creative scheduled RoboCopy job is all that's needed. That's how we do our weekly off-site backup. Or, purchase a small Synology NAS device and use their free built-in server backup utility.
