I have an archive account that all the emails get copied to, and a Barracuda Archive Appliance comes and gets the emails and stores them then tells the server to 'delete' the message. This moves the message to the trash but doesn't delete it permanently. Since there are a very large number of email messages, I went to the archive account in the admin interface and told it to use 'custom settings for this user'. I tell it to permanently delete the Trash, SPAM, and Sent folder of items older than 5 days, and everything else 30 days (The system controlled minimum number of days). I would expect this to work, however when I look at the account, it is using 6.2Gb and over 250,000 items. I log in and look at the trash and it goes back to September 19th (This may have been the last time I logged in to delete the trash folder). I should see the oldest items be October 1st or 2nd. What am I missing here? Why isn't the setting doing its job and keeping this mail box much smaller?
