Hi there,
I use kerio control as my home firewall. I work at home too and let´s say the nature of what I do asks for added security.
With the introduction of auto login for hosts based on MAC addresses, I tried configuring some users based on MACs. The idea was quite simple - just to make it easier to search logs, accounting, etc, I tried adding a user for each device I have at home.
Today, I have three (yes, that's right - 3 "human" users, myself, my wife and my father), but I have lots of hosts: 2 PCs, 1 server with 8 VMs, 4 notebooks and 7 mobile devices and at least 5 more hosts, including appleTV, TV, Sky etc.).
Last time I checked, Kerio licensing is like this: for each user, you might have 3 additional hosts (like, say, a mobile, a tablet and a notebook).
Everything was fine (I have 10 licenses). But when I started adding a user for each device, kerio started complaining saying that user ABC wouldn´t be allowed access because the number of licenses I have is not enough.
O-kay.
The question is: will I have to buy more licenses if I simply want to create users for my devices or are there any workarounds? I am not trying to circumvent Kerio´s licensing (the number of real users is the same)... I wonder how this licensing model will deal with the Internet of Things...
Thank you in advance.
