I don't know what to say, now I'm the victim of this strange behaviour.
Today Wednesday, 13th Juli 2022 is the first day after the monthly Microsoft Patchday (2nd Tuesday of the month).
And now, my search bar and my Windows-Start-Menu-Button are not working, as a couple of times mentioned from posters before.
I have Kerio Outlook Connector 9.4.1P1, the update from the HTML-E-Mail debacle.
I've lost one small client, but will lose more if GFI continues with poor written software.
The Outlook search function doesn't work fast since years, OK... workaround is "Mailstore".
But when a simple Outlook plugin (KOC) corrupts fundamential functions of the underlying operating system, it is just a poorly written piece of software.
GFI cannot be reached via phone from Switzerland because the German Phone Number is toll free from Germany. The UK Number has a voice recognition system and accepts only existing cases and cannot connect to a human.
I complained this to my distributor, he confirmed the problem.
So, I'm waiting for a solution / resolution of this problem
just my 2 cents.

Update for my case (perhaps written somewhere else):
Open Registry, go go " Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curren tVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders" and check permissions for "User Shell Folders" if "ALLE ANWENDUNGSPAKETE" (German) / "ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES" (or so) has Full-Access and read, see screenshot.
After this, without a reobot my Start Menu worked again, and the search bar in Explorer too.

Just wow from the response.
I have been trying to figure out why for my customer this kept happening as its very random issue happening more with the new staff setups. When it happens it completely destroys the Microsoft account associated and unable to get this working.
Very interesting that it only happens with sites with Kerio installed on.
Will keep working on this and see if I can find a full fix for this.

Nice, I try it.
The problem doesn't belong to domain computer. It hit every computer even in workgroups. It only happen to fresh installations of the KOFF client, not if the automatic update force a client update.
Yesterday I have to remove the client on a computer who get a new Office 2021 in 64bit and the old Office was 32bit. In this case you have to deinstall KOFF too and reinstall it. After install the 64bit msi paket the problem comes up. The computer running Windows 10 latest patch an be in a workgroup with local profiles only.

Here is the answer from the support team July 13, 2022
"Thank you for your patience. We have received an update on the investigation into this issue:
• Our Development Team has found that the issue is not related to Kerio Connect and has been reported even without Kerio as described in Microsoft Store Apps fail to start - Windows Client. So please refer to the resolutions suggested by Microsoft. The issue is related to the "ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES" user not having some registry/file permissions, and Kerio Outlook Connector does not set any registry permissions.
• We also recommend reviewing the recommendations shared in the forum discussion WINDOWS PROFILE DAMAGED AFTER INSTALLATION AND SYNCHRONIZATION MAIL BOX that advocates for registry tweaks. Several customers confirmed that the advice resolved the problem. Moreover, there are anecdotal reports that the online Office repair has worked for some customers.

Check extended permissions on " Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curren tVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders".
If there are only four entries and none of them are application, remove them all and use the checkbox to inherit rights from the parent structure.
Click Apply and OK. It should now contain six permissions, two of which are application permissions.
Now the Start menu should be back up, but search may still not work.
