As a note: We had some systems on 20H2 with that issue, upgrading to 21H2 did not solve it for use. We used the internal Windows Update Process.

I am so happy I came across this forum. I have about 7 workstations where the user profile suddenly became corrupt. Windows button, Search Bar and other various apps stopped working. I've tried every possible workaround out there to correct it, but I've always had to result to re-creating the users profile. All PC's have been Domain users. Hoping a fix is released soon!

Not sure if it's related but I also noticed a lot of forwarded or reply emails, suddenly the recipient email address is missing. Now it only shows as "Persons Name <>" when before there used to be the persons email included in the brackets. This didn't start happening until the update to 9.4.1

I know this problem too but it happen only in Outlook with Koff, not on webinterface or Kerio Connect Client. It start with MS patches in april. Office 2019 got an update and from this point the problem appears. If you use any other Outlook version this problem dont exists. To resolve it you have to roll back the Office 2019 patches for now. I found other threads in the internet who discuss this problem. It ist not related to Kerio.

We have Outlook 2016 and the problem occurs on 15 workstations. It's not just for Outlook 2019.

Our company has been having this same issue over the last few months. One of my coworkers finally came across this forum a few days ago after noticing everything would work until he setup a user's email using Kerio. After reading all of the issues here and posting in another forum, I believe I have come up with a solution. I don't believe that this issue is a corrupt profile but rather a registry permissions issue. I was able to get two of our workstations start menus to work yesterday after resetting the registry permissions to the default values using Tweaking.com's AIO repair tool, although I'm not sure it is a permanent fix. If this is a permanent fix, maybe Kerio is changing a specific registry key during the setup process. Also, maybe this can give GFI a clue and a way to fix this issue ASAP. As far as the tool I used, I only used the "Reset Registry Permissions" repair option.

The first time I ran into this, reinstalling our AV software (Vipre) fixed it. I just ran into it again, and the "Reset Registry Permissions" was the hero this time.

KOFF 9.4.1
Windows 10
Office 2016

This might help, but use it with a grain of salt:

Check the extended permissions on " Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curren tVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders".
If there's only four entries and none of them are application ones delete all of them and use the check box to inheritance it's rights from the parent structure.
Click Apply and OK. It should now list six permissions of which two are application ones.
By now the start menu should be back up and running, but the search might still not work.
Reboot the PC and check whether it's working again. In 75% of the cases this did work for us. The other 25% the start menu did work again, but the search wouldn't come back and Windows Apps still had problems launching.
A colleague of mine found this using the "Process Monitor"-Tool from the Microsoft Sysinternals Website. It listed that key as access denied when called by the start menu open action.

We had the same issue and opened a ticket at MS. They told us it's a known bug and recommend us to downgrade or wait for a fix. The issue only persists on Outlook 2019. Newer Versions are not affected.

That is not correct. We have the problem with 15 clients with Outlook 2016!

The solution works only partially in our case - everything seems to be working except Windows Search, the search bar is still broken, same as search box in Windows Explorer window.

Can somenone please check if after applying the fix, Windows Search also works properly?

This is totally possible. We just tested 2019 + and came to the conclusion: 2019 affected, 2021 not affected, 365 not affected.
