Hi to all users

for about 10 days we have been experiencing problems on some stations of our. customers who use koff and whose mailbox has been configured using koff.
In practice suddenly the windows stat bar stops working and starts a windows process wappsvc in an abnormal way. At the same time, the news bar and the windows 10 store stop working.
We have replicated the problem on a clean machine w10pro + koff + outlook2021 but the same problem occurred on other machines in production with win10 + koff + officine2016 / 19.
We are already at about 10 workstations with the same problem and things are starting to get heavy in terms of managing the problem towards customers (who are all different).
At the moment it seems that we are involved only stations connected to a local AD domain while I have no cases of stations configured in workgroups.

is anyone having any of these problems?

I have opened a ticket and are awaiting evaluation by gfi

Hi,
we have exactly the same problem. We were also able to reproduce the problem. Set up a new user profile from the local domain in Windows and connect an existing e-mail account in Outlook with the KOFF and the problem occurs.
The Windows Start Menu, Windows Search and Windows Security Center no longer work and the Event Viewer is flooded with error messages about Windows System Apps.
More than 15 PCs are now affected and the number is growing.

The problem occurred after we updated to Kerio Connect 9.4.1.

We URGENTLY need a solution!

I had a similar issue on a few computers about a month ago (Win 10, latest KOFF, Outlook 2016) where the Start Menu/search wouldn't work, the Window Store didn't work, and all of the store apps were missing for that particular user. I never linked it to Kerio though...I wonder if that's why everything worked for me when logging in to their computers and not having Outlook/KOFF set up for me? It seemed like our A/V software (Vipre) was causing it. Once I removed A/V (and later reinstalled) the Start Menu would work fine.

Perhaps Kerio's local cache folder needs to be excluded from the AV on-access scanning?

I replicated the problem because I thought the antivirus could be the cause.
Newly formatted machine win11 + office2021 H&B and mail configured in imap + all programs used by the customer + Antivirus. Test for 48 hours, everything ok
As soon as I installed Koff after about 10m from the start of the synchronization everything stopped working.
It seems clear to me what is causing the problem.

I opened a ticket in gfi 7 days ago but as always they have disappeared and their times are very long. Situations like these are unacceptable.

We have also clearly narrowed down the problem to the KOFF. Important in this context is that the Windows account must be an Active Directory account. The problem has not yet occurred on clients with Windows local accounts.
We have also opened a ticket with GFI and are now waiting for a statement.
The problem also occurred to us quite clearly after the update to 9.4.1. We cannot say whether version 9.4.0 was also affected.

Does this issue have a known solution, or is this more of a generic suggestion to contact Kerio support when in need of help?

If a solution is known, since this issue seems to be a bit larger than a simple isolated incident, it would be in everyone's best interest for details of the issue to be shared.

I've the same issue and i've done many many tests.

Clearly the problem is KOFF 9.4.1, i had a client where i've not installed last update so 9.4.0 does not have this problem.
I cannot understand why some PC works and some PC have this issue.
I can confirm that the issue is isolated in user profile, if you create another user on the PC it will works.
At user level the entire windows app system is corrupted, start menu, search app, windows defender ecc ecc. I've tryed to reinstall all apps using powershell cmds but every attempt fails.

Currently the only solution is to rebuild user profile.

Same Problem here since updating to Ver. 9.41.
14 of 30 Users are effected! After many tests and Tricks i gave up. The only solution ist to create new userprofils.
What a desaster!!! I opened a ticket, the only anser was "we are working on it....."

Some other infos

The issue is not active directory dependent, i've a workgroup installation and i've the same issue.

The solution is always profile rebuild.

We are also facing this issue on some clients - time by time. The reason or event causing this issue is totally unclear.
Downgrading KOFF or removing the outlook profile does not solve the issue, we tried also many other things. Even in Windows Safe Mode, the problem exists.

The solution is always profile rebuild.

Agree, we've not found a workaround yet.

We haven't been able to find a workaround either. However, on some clients the problem went away after a few days and you could use the start menu, system apps, search and everything else and it suddenly started working again. However, we also observed that the problem suddenly reappeared.
With us, however, only Active Directory profiles were affected and no workgroup profiles.

We urgently need a solution.

Correct, for some users, the problems disappeared without any activity to resolve the issue - very random.
GFI wrote via ticket system, that they are investigating/resolving the issue, but there are no further details available even after ~ two weeks?

Hello

I had this issue with few PC's in my office, and I found a solution.

This is my environment:
We have Kerio 9.4.0
It only happen to PC with Windows 10
AVG business anti virus
Workgroup environment (not AD).

I think it is related to windows search, that is not working (try to open setting and write some thing there - no result).

I don't know if it is related to kerio, but my solution was to download Microsoft MediaCreationTool21H2.exe, run it, and it fix the system.
