Nathoo Shane from micromania.mg likes the GFI MailEssentials comprehensive checks but is surprised that we do have a check for name spoofing. An example of a name spoofed email is attached. This is a feature that is available in other relatively simpler Anti-Spam solutions like spam titan and should be easy to implement. He has indicated that name spoofing is a major new area of spam attacks.
Recommended Operation for blocking name spoofed emails:
1. GFI Anti-Spoofing should also check the name along with the email address for incoming emails.
2. If the name matches with the name of a local user, then Anti-Spoofing should verify if the sender's email address matches with the email address of the local user with the same name as configured in Active Directory.
3. If the sender's email address is different than the local user's email address with the same name, then Anti-Spoofing should classify the email as spam.
