Currently, GFI Archiver uses the following fields to read email:

  • proxyAddresses
  • email
While in general these are sufficient for most cases, there is an issue when handling users that have emails in non-Exchange and Exchange environments (for example John.Smith@gsuite.remote and John.Smith<_at_>exchange.local). Because Exchange resolves the proxyAddresses field to the primary email, this means that internal users would not be able to email the gsuite address, and conversely internal emails in Archiver won't be able to distinguish between these two.
If the proxyAddresses field is removed the emails are sent to the proper address, however they'd remain with no owners unless a brand new AD account is added with only this single email address. This means not only an additional license use but also a second user our employees would need to use (or be granted permissions to read from).
Could GFI Archiver create (or better yet, use) an AD field to only read email addresses from, that is not being used by Exchange? This way you can send to both remote and internal addresses with no issues.

Current Behavior:
Usera@exchange.local sends email to userb<_at_>remote.mail
Userb also has userb<_at_>exchange.local address
Result: email is routed to userb<_at_>exchange.local and is archived as if it were internal-only email

Desired behavior:
Usera@exchange.local sends email to userb<_at_>remote.mail
Userb has local address, but is ignored as it is on another field.
Result: email is routed to userb<_at_>remote.mail and is archived to the actual email address.
