We are running Kerio Connect v9.3.0 on a Windows 2008 R2 server. It's time to move to a new Windows 2019 server running as a Hyper V VM.

I've setup the Kerio Connect integrated backup utility which is running successfully. I also have the Windows 2019 server setup in Hyper V. Same version of Kerio Connect installed on new server. Current license status: Unregistered trial version.

Here are the things I need advice, clarification and wisdom on.

1. License: What is the procedure for moving the existing license from the old to new server?
- Do I get a trial license for the new server and migrate?
- Do I then simply install the old license on the new server? Will that disable the license on the old server?
- When you restore the backup to the new server, does it bring the license with it?

2. Certificate: When I restore the latest backup to the new server, will the existing SSL certificate work or will it need to be regenerated? Note: no change in MX record.

Thanks.

I believe that if you are using the native Kerio backup / restore process, all of your licensing, SSL certs & etc will come along for the ride.

For the license just install it on the new server. It should allow you to have 2 in use simultaneously on both systems as long as it's for a short period.

Certificates yes will work
