The new Mac mini runs on the new Apple silicon (the M1 CPU) which appears to offer stunningly fast performance - at least for native apps.

This Mac also runs non native apps under emulation

Does any know how Kerio Connect runs on an M1 based Mac?

It should run under emulation currently, but unless you've got a small number of accounts, I'd be wary of the 16GB RAM limit.

On the other hand, when I can put 64 or 128 GB in a M1 mini, I'll be running Connect on there in a minute. The chip performance is important as we increase the number of rules and tests that a message needs to pass to be delivered.

Cheers,
Jon

Has anyone been brave enough to give this a try (Kerio Connect on Apple Silicon)?

Or does Kerio have any further information on compatibility. Most companies have explicit statements about their products and Apple Silicon.

I can confirm that the client app Kerio Connect Version 9.3.0 starts on Apple Silicon.
As this is not a native application, it needs Rosetta2 to start, but thats the same with many other application I use.
(For example Adobe Reader DC, SAP GUI and others)

I haven´t tried much of the functions, but Mail, Calendar and Contacts are working as expected.

Regards,
Martin

Push up. Any news about running Kerio Connect Server on a M1? The wear leveling of the SSD in my old Server is getting worse and I'm looking for a new Mac mini (16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD is enough). Should I go for an i7 or a M1?

I have to test it myself now. The SSD died faster than I thought. Kerio Connect Server is now running on the Mac mini M1 faster than ever, despite Rosetta and only 8 GB RAM.

There is one issue so far: After every macOS update (11.3 and 11.3.1) Kerio Connect had to be reinstalled because the mail services did not start automatically.
But it's done quickly. Simply install the latest release over it - all settings and data will be retained and the services start immediately.

I need to replace my aged MacMini server and hesitant to replace with intel - is your M1 server still running smoothly?

Thanks

Yes, it's still running fine on M1 with macOS Monterey 12.3 now. Only thing you have to do after a Kerio-Update is manage the Security Settings in System Preferences about Full Disk Access for "mailserver", that's all.
