Hello,

I am setting up a PoC with GFI Archiver and Kerio Connect (both latest versions) and Outlook on the clients' side with Kerio Outlook Connector. I have setup the archiving settings in Kerio connect and GFI archiver with journaling. Everything is working, new emails coming in are getting archived, and with the Archiver Outlook Plugin I can see the GFI archive.

The problems I'm seeing is with the other GFI archiver Outlook plugin, the GFI Archiver Archiving Assistant, the tool which lets the user "archive" manually to GFI archiver. Running this in Outlook, trying to archive enen a single email item, an error pops up:

***
The archiving operation encountered some errors while processing the messages.
Could not archive 1 message(s).
Messages from this location may not be archived. Only Microsoft Exchange mailboxes, Public Folders, Personal Folders, IMAP, and POP3 accounts are supported.
***

So Kerio Connect is not supported for Manual archiving? The user has been assigned the correct "user" role in GFI Archiver, so that he has the rights to manually archive.

Also, I'm suspecting that as a result of this, the Default Import Settings set in the Archive Assistant are not working either, as these seem to depend on Outlook being able to actually archive.

***

So, new emails are ok, rules are being processed and archived properly through Journaling, what I'm trying to acheive is a way to automatically archive old emails from the existing users mailboxes, or the ability to manually archive at least, as I'm starting off with 35x users and mailboxes which have been in use for the past 10+ years so I can archive past contents in GFI archiver as well.

The integration documentation between GFI Archiver and Kerio Connect is pretty basic and does not mention these things. OK, they were two separate companies in the past, but I have not found clear information that manual archiving will not work.

Does anybody have this setup? Or similar?

Thanks,
Stefan

The error is because you are trying to archive from KOFF mailbox. This is not supported. You should connect Outlook with Connect via ActiveSync or IMAP.

Glad I stopped by here, as I am investigating archiving solutions for our Kerio Connect server. Finding out that one GFI product doesn't work with another helps shorten the list.

GFI Archiver fully supports Kerio Connect.

Archiving should done via the Journalling mailbox feature in Kerio Connect.

Just a fyi if you want to import the Kerio archive into GFI Archiver.

1. install GFI
2. get your hands on the archive zip files from Kerio and unzip them, if you never activated the archiving then use the backup zip files
3. you will usually end up with monthly folders. The .eml files need to be renamed to .q and then dropped into the pickup folder. Small problem: the file name schema is the same for every month, so you need to wait to drop the q files into pickup until it is cleaned up.

Solution (for Windows):

1. navigate to the #msg folder in the archive folder, start a powershell ther (just type "powershell" into the explorer path field)
2. copy paste this:
Get-ChildItem *.eml | ForEach-Object{Rename-Item $_ -NewName "$(Get-Random)-$($_.Name).q"}
- this will rename all files from .eml to a random filename with .q as extension
3. When renaming is finished (2-3 secs for 10k files), enter this:
 Move-Item *.q "C:\Program Files\GFI\Archiver\MAIS\Pickup"
to move all files directly to the pickup folder (your path may be different)

Cheers, my server is currently busy importing ~250k mails.

Hi All

I think p0ddie not what he meant
the problem is that you can't start archiving from a mailbox. i don't even understand why it's not compatible with KOFF accounts.
how to archive from mailboxes?
I want to archive users' mailboxes so that they can be retrieved by users.
this is only possible for IMAP and Exchange and POP accounts
