GFI Archiver deduplication feature request [message #147820]

Hello,

I would like to request a deduplication feature in the Archiver. A lot of companies are asking for a deduplication technology, because the multiple emails with the same attachment are using a lot of disk space. With a deduplication technology implemented, a more modern and disk usage friendly Archiver could be shown to the new customers.

Hi

GFI Archiver uses a technology called Single Instance Storage which basically means that archived items are only stored once.

Hi Ian,

According to the support, that is not true: "Unfortunately, all the emails are backed up and the same attachment can be found multiple times."

There are no documentation to be found, and the support also couldn't provide me with guide. If there is one available, please help me to find it.

For compliance reasons emails are stored as they are received. The Single Instance Storage works on the entire email and not the attachment. Please note that GFI Archiver does not implement stubbing and all emails are stored in their original format for compliance reasons.
