I am currently trying to sync a new GFI site with Active Directory

The sync wizard gives the error - "Synchronization can not proceed with workgroups"

The server is domain joined, domain can be resolved from this server.

Anybody got any ideas on this?

Can you check the credentials for the GFI LanGuard service?

Also is the DNS of the server pointing to a DC?

Hi Ian,

GFI Service is running under a service account with domain admin permissions, same as other sites I have GFI on.

Server is using a local domain controller for DNS, the same DC that was used for domain joining.

I have also noticed the following entry in the lanss_v124_common.csv log file -

DomainControllerResolver::UseDsGetDcName - DsGetDcName for domain 'FLOWTECH' with computer 'FLOWTECH' for Netlogon service and flags 0 failed and returned 1722.

can you run nltest /dsregdns on both servers where GFI LanGuard is installed and your DC?

it completes successfully on the DC but on the GFI server it fails with the error 'Status = 50 0x32 ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED'

Yes makes sense. Does GFI LaNGuard work now? Also, did you try a reboot of the machine where GFI LanGuard is installed?

I've rebooted a couple of times.

GFI still says it cannot continue as part of a workgroup when I try to sync with the domain
