Hello!

I ask for help with advice.
We are going to update the version from 9.2.3 to 9.2.10 in the coming days.

Our users use KOFF on computers in AD and workgroups all without administrator rights (Win7-Win10 all).

Will there be a problem with the automatic update of KOFF and KUS when upgrading from 9.2.3 to 9.2.10? We have more than 350 Outlook mailboxes and manually updating KOFF on them will be just a disaster ...

Since you are upgrading from a very old version yes the automatic upgrade won't work.

What I suggest
1) prior the upgrade disable the automatic KOFF upgrade.
2) Via AD GPO upgrade the KOFF
3) Workgroup computers you have to upgrade manually.

The good news is that you can upgrade slowly and the old KOFF version will work with latest server.

Hello Ian!

Thank you very much for your advice!

That is, computers with KOFF 9.2.3 will work with server 9.2.10?

The previous experience of our updates befor 9.2.3 showed that KOFF update was also required. KOFF drew a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark and did not work with the new server (7xx,8xx and 9.1 versions).

Thanks again for your help!

Yes they will work, I still suggest to upgrade them just you have more time.

Also going forward automatic updating will work.

Hi Ian,
We also have to update from 9.2.3. Iam Aware of the Problem with the "broken" autoupdate (old certificate; i read somewhere), so i wonder, if the following would work:
- disable autoupdate in Connect Console on 9.2.3
- update the autoupdate component of KOFF via GPO or other deployment Software to the newest Version (downloadable on Website)
- update Kerio Connect to 9.2.10
- enable the autoupdate in Kerio Connect Connsole
- let the Clients update from the Kerio Connect Server

So Ian, is that a possible way? Or is there anything i havent thought about?

best regards
Chris

Yes, that should work You basically need to take the option as if you were to distribute KOFF the first time.

The issue is that the update logic checks the code signed certificate and it was hardcoded what exactly to check for.

Hi all,

so - if I got that right - in newer versions the update should work without problems?
Even if the users do not have admin rights on their computers?
Our KOFF users have V9.2.5P3 as client and I want to update the server from 9.2.8 to 9.2.10 in the next days...

Thank you!

Regards,
Martin

We updated from 9.2.8P1 to 9.2.10 last week and about 10% of our windows users had problems with the KOFF update.
Only solution was to uninstall KOFF and to reinstall the newst version manually.
On some workstations the outlook profile was destroyed so that the users had to configure their outlook like it was new: no footer, no customizings, no integrations ..

Sad

Hi Tim,

did you find the cause of the random restarts?
We also need to upgrade our Kerio Connect Linux Appliance but we haven't seen much experiences of upgraded Linux Appliances.

Regards,
Peter
