About 5 years ago, we migrated our Connect server from Windows 2008 to Linux (Debian 7). In both cases, the servers were virtualized (VMWare). I also seem to think that was 1 or 2 major versions of KC ago. The Debian install gave significantly better performance, especially with the message clean out function. We have just under 400 users, 3TB of mail store, and about 7 million .eml files.

I'm just polling for the current state of things, certainly not trying to ignite a "best OS" war. I'm really the only one on staff here that has any Linux knowledge, so there is a temptation to migrate back to Windows. I'm hoping someone out there has a similar sized Kerio Connect installation, running on a WIndows 2012 or 2016, and provide some feedback.

In general our experience is, that linux installations have the best performance, followed by windows. Bottle neck is often filesystem performance with a huge amount of small files, therefore this is what I would compare it to your windows environments.

That's kinda what I expected. I'd love to test for myself, but I can't set up a viable test lab with enough traffic to make a valid test. So I look to folks who are managing multiple site for clients for their experience.

Thx for the feedback, sfhn.
