That is correct. The domains I've been attempting to use on the Desktop Client are not the primary domain on the Kerio Connect server.

Now looking at the logs, I see the failed logins. As you probably already know, it's attempting to login in the user on the primary domain, regardless of what the Desktop Client passes in for a username.

I believe we will have some good news for you tomorrow regarding this. Stay tuned.

I've run into the same issue with the Desktop client not using the autodiscover record, but using the MX records instead.

Glad to see I'm not the only one.

Let the client upgrade to version 9.2.1 released today. It fixes problems with autodiscovery for non-primary email domains.

Being able to use regex in sieve filter scripts would be good. It doesn't seem to be possible at the moment.

We have been moving everyone to the Desktop client and one of the biggest complaints so far was no spell-checker. Was disappointed Sad today to see that it has been included now in the latest version but only for Windows 8 and Higher which is a bummer for company's like ours.

Due to compliance and some other security factors, we are running windows 7 pro 64bit globally and are not on path for windows 10 for at least another year at the earliest. Dang that sucks going to have to role everyone back to using webmail again. boy i am going to have a lot of disappointed staff they were really starting to like the client alot.

Agreed, this is a major drawback and is a complete show-stopper for us. We plan to move to Windows 10 before Windows 7 goes out of support but that isn't until 2019 so it's still got a couple of years left in it yet.

We'll have to stick with the web client with browser spell-check for now.

I've deployed Kerio Connect in a limited trial with a few clients and the single biggest feature limitation I can see so far is the inability to drag a file (say a PDF) onto the Kerio Connect icon, and have it open a new email window containing that PDF as an attachment.

The reason this is an issue is because a client has a Filemaker Database, which is scripted to "open the default mail client and create a new email message and attach the file xyz" - This feature works beautifully with both Outlook Mac and Apple Mail... but not Kerio Connect Client.

Another minor bug fix is that if a user is a Non-Admin user, they cannot install updates for the application. However when a user launches the application and an update is available, it prompts to install using the admin login, which I enter, but the program quits and the update does not apply. I then relaunch the program, and the same prompt to update occurs. Ideally, a sensible way to implement this would be to simply have the program detect if the program is running with non-admin privileges, and if so, disable the auto-update mechanism on the basis that non-admins should not be able to update applications anyhow.

Is it about Kerio Connect Client application for Mac? It does not require admin privileges to be installed. Every user can install/update it (depending on the directory he installed it to).

When I click on the icon "print" for a split second it shows the dialogue will print and then closes Kerio Connect Client.
Is it just my problem?

Pavel,

If David has his system setup similar to mine, the non-admin accounts can't install anything, either by using the Apple Installer or dragging, not even system updates.

It is to provide a better, more consistent experience and to keep our support load at a reasonable level.

For our configuration, yes, they can, if they try, install to a "user" Applications folder, but we prefer that they not do even that.

So, yes, Connect Desktop Client (CDC) would be installed in the computer's Application folder and would require admin-level privileges to be updated.

Cheers,
Jon

I have the Kerio Connect Client installed in the /Applications folder, which does not allow non-admin users to modify. It can be reasonably assumed that if a user does not have an Admin account on the machine, it's because they're not meant to and therefore they should not need to be prompted to install an update that they may not have the admin rights to do.

It's a rather annoying fact of life that most Apps behave like Kerio Connect in that they continually check and prompt to install updates that the user may not be able to do. Although in most cases, applications have a preference to "disable checking for updates", the fact is that in a large scale environment, it add support calls for users who complain to IT that "they are constantly being prompted to update" and they can't do it.

In an ideal world, the Application would do a self-check on launch to see whether the location the app was running from was writable or not, and if not, just disable the "checking for updates" since it's implied that they can't update even if there was one. For what it's worth, Adobe I'm sure have finally figured this out in later releases of Adobe Reader.

Two Things:
1.- I canĀ“t make new threads here (it redirects me to my profile).
2.- Due to some requirements from other people, we have the environment variable ProgramFilesx86 changed to a different path from "C:\Program Files (x86)". Kerio/Outlook is not able to load the profile with that setup. What can we do?

While not strictly confined to the Desktop Client, I'd like to see Kerio build in some method of supporting large enclosures being linked instead of enclosed.

I'm using the CargoLifter plug-in for Apple Mail (now part of MailButler) that allows me to set a threshold for attachment size and have those uploaded to a cloud server/service (either internal or external) and the links embedded in the message in place of the attachment. I only have two issues with this solution: I can't force the attachment to be linked (there's still an option to enclose rather than upload & link) and the plug-in isn't offered as a standalone product any longer.

I'd like to see the next major version of Connect offer this feature in both the web & desktop clients along with supporting "regular" clients like Apple Mail.

Cheers,
Jon
