Hi,

is there a way how we can scan the Mailstore with our Endpoint Virus System without destroying the Mailstore?

We need this Option to get Virus Mails which are not detected by the Sophos Scan Engine of the Server because the definitions are not updated at this time. (like the Mail Droppers or some Trojan Horses)

Do you have an Best Practice to do this?

I suspect the general advice will be to NOT let your endpoint AV scan the server's mail store. Either fix the problem that is preventing Sophos from updating, or use a service or an appliance as a front-end to your mail server for AV scanning. In our environment, we are using SpamTitan for both spam filtering and AV, and it has worked pretty well.

Hi,

there is no problem that preventing Sophos from updating but some of the Viruses are not in the Definitions while we are receiving these messages our plan was to scan the Mails which contains Viruses but are not detected by receiving because Sophos dont know them at this moment.
