Since implementing the Kerio Anti Spam, I have had a few users mention that Spam is now arriving in their Inbox as opposed to Junk Mail.

Don't know if it's something to do with the new Kerio Anti Spam or just coincidence, nor know the process of moving it to 'Junk'.

Is there a generic filter that does this?

I would also like to get an answer on this. We paid for the add-on because of the good reputation of Bitdefender but rather than adding value, it seems to have taken away user control from the app.

Our users are no longer able to categorize spam that makes it through the filter (the button is gone from the Kerio add-in leaving us only with Outlook level Junk Mail control).

We contacted Kerio support about this and they really don't seem to think it's a problem, which is not something an end user wants to hear, especially when they DO think that it is a problem.

Has anyone else had any luck? As it stands now, we will not renew the Anti-Spam plugin.

That's correct. User cannot train the Spam filter (Bayes) anymore with Bitdefender switched on. It is either or.

This has been discussed here:

and in other threads.

That is disappointing. Thank you for the response.

+1

Switched to Bit Defender 3 - 4 months ago.

Have experienced largest ever levels of spam over the last week.

Have you moved back to SpamAssassin/Bayes and seen any improvement?

We are having the same problem. What I think is happening is this:

Kerio contracted with Bitdefender to offer the add-on, but the add-on is designed in such a way as it takes away functionality from the other core add-ons that Kerio users enjoy (like the user level Spam contribution). Bitdefender seems to do a better job for us in blocking potential viruses (from .doc and other potentially dangerous attachments) but it doesn't do as a good of a job at figuring out spam as SpamAssassin did.

In my opinion, Kerio should either find a different partner that can accomplish the same as Bitdefender on the virus protection end, but not remove features from the existing Spam Filter. So far, they don't seem to be concerned with it.

It was a relatively inexpensive experiment on our part and we do not have to renew when the contract comes up - unless Kerio starts to see this as a real issue for users and makes some changes.

Hello,

we are using the Bitdefender Thing and a few Users are experiencing Problems with the Spam-Filter.
Several Adresses within our own Domain are blocked and moved to the Spam-Folder.
All adresses from our own Domain are Whitelisted in Kerio-Admin.

How can we reset this behaviour?

That is odd. Do you have a local clients I.P. group set up in the admin settings that you have assigned to all the safe lists?

I have temporarily disabled the Anti-Spam add in to see if it has really been helping with anything. As it stands now, I feel duped out of hard earned money.

I turned off Kerio Anti-spam on Monday and went back to SpamAssassin after a bunch of user complaints built up over the previous week.

Spam for users is a whole lot better since making the change.

We didn't buy the new Anti-Spam but it was active in our license - maybe a test time from them. So I tried it out and we got more spam. After I set the spam detection higher, it was more or less the same as with SA.

I didn't have any false positive or other problems with it.

Had to renew our license and we removed the service. SA + ZIP Attachment protection etc. is enough. Also disabled all Macros in our company with GPO.

Also I can understand why kerio tried to enable a new spam protection and I guess that they don't make a fuckload of money from it. The SA protection was a problem for some users, because it needs some manual tuning, depending where you live / what mails you get. We also have a thread about it in this forum. For the casual user, that's too much to do. So they decided (IMHO) on a external tool. Not to mention they have to pay them too, so the software can actually use this service.

Dunno why they use bitdefender, eset would be a better choice IMHO. Not to mention that sophos also has a solution like that.

I would suggest you turn it on again and make it a bit more agressive. Also allow to upload the negative mails might help to improve the service.

I did put the Anti-Spam monitor on the highest setting before deciding to turn it off. There was still way too much junk that made it through the filter.

I can see what you are saying with Kerio trying to offer alternative solutions to its users but the Bitdefender add-on really did not help in our scenario.

What I would like to see is an attachment filter that allows more specificity in use (i.e. allow outgoing but not incoming). That is a feature I could see us using regularly.
