javad wrote on Sat, 16 April 2016 21:35I installed kerio control by VMWare on my server and a access point is connected to server (second NIC). and clients connect to access point to use internet. my problem is users can open https sites like google without authenticating and the worst thing is that they can completely use their Telegram or Instagram while their quota does not change! i need to force my clients to login into kerio control to control their internet access.
please help me
good luck
The user has installed Kerio Control by VMWare on their server, with an access point connected to the server's second NIC. However, clients can access https sites and social media apps like Telegram and Instagram without authenticating or using up their quota. They need help forcing clients to login to Kerio Control to control their internet access.

To resolve this issue and force users to log in to Kerio Control, you need to enable the "Transparent Proxy" feature on your server.
Here are the steps to do so:
- Log in to the Kerio Control Administration interface.
- Go to Configuration > Content Filter > HTTP Policy.
- Check the box for Enable transparent proxy.
- If you want additional security, enable options like "Block websites containing malware and phishing", "Enforce SafeSearch on search engines" and "Block QUIC protocol (Google services)".
- Click Apply.
After enabling the Transparent Proxy, all HTTP and HTTPS traffic will be redirected through Kerio Control automatically, forcing users to authenticate before accessing any website or service.
However, some applications like Telegram might use custom protocols that a standard transparent proxy configuration may not intercept. To prevent access to these applications before authentication, you can create Traffic Rules with specific ports or IP ranges used by these applications.
- Navigate to Configuration > Firewall > Traffic Rules.
- Create a new rule with the following settings:
- Action: Deny
- Source: LAN (or your network)
- Destination: Any
- Service: Custom (define the ports/protocols used by applications like Telegram)
- Time: Always
- User: Not authenticated
- Move this rule above any other rules allowing access to internet services for authenticated users.
- Click Apply.
By following these steps, you should be able to enforce user authentication for accessing internet services through your server using Kerio Control.
I hope this helps! If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask.
Good luck!
