Hi all,

I have a client who has had a management split, as a result some employees have moved form the old company to the new company.

Both companies are running Kerio Connect.

Is it possible to move the users data from the old server to the new server and attach the old mailbox as a subfolder of the users new account - similar to the option you are offered when deleting a users account you can copy the data to the administrator account?

You could use rsync (or another syncing tool) and just move their entire folder to the new server. When you re-create their new account with the same prefix it will see their folder and adopt their data.

Thanks - however their account has already been setup - could I drop the mail box folder from the old server to the new server into the users folder?

If the account short name is the same, copying their folder from the old to new server should work.

here's my 2 cents for migrating to another server.

I had done this quite a few times, hope this will help someone.

Anyway here's what i did:
1-Stop the Kerio mail service (old server)
2-Restore the latest backup to the new server of course
3-Copy the mail store from the old server to the new server (it will takes ages depends on the size of user mailbox) (rysnc comes handy on this if you're on Linux)
Reason for copying or overwriting the mail store; any email that was not included on the backup will be copied over. (so no email lost

hopefully)
4-Pray hard that the new server will work smoothly
Start the mail service on the new server
5-Sip a can of beer if everything works fine

Been there, have the t-shirt. For Step 3, RoboCopy works quite well in Windows (I used it to avoid step 2 as well, since my kerio backup was not relaible). Rsync in Linux, but some trickery may be required if transferring a very large mail store, to avoid file count limits in rSync.

FAST COPY also works just make sure if it be ROBO of FASTCOPY you run it on the Source Server.
