Hi there,

the maintenance license for our kerio server has to be renewed soon. We got an offer for the following:

- Kerio connect basic license
- Kerio connect user extension
- Sophos
- Active Sync

What I don't understand is the benefit of the "user extension". Will I still get software updates if I only have the maintenance for the basic license or do I need need a maintenance license for every user to get software updates?

Thanks for your help!

Philipp

I think "user extension" is when you need to add additional accounts to your server (i.e. moving from 10 to 15 accounts). You can do that at any time, but the maintenance cost changes as you add more users.

Hopefully someone from Kerio can confirm what I've written or correct me if I've erred in my interpretation.

Cheers,
Jon

Hi Philipp,

I cannot see where in the world you are but you are more than welcome to call our sales team here and they can explain the quote you have been give. I do believe that the base licence is the first 5 users and then the user extension is to cover other users on your licence.

However I have not seen this phrasing before so I would suggest calling our sales team. If you are in the EU please call our UK office on +44 01223 202130.

The sales team should be able to help you out and give you more information about your quote.

I hope this helps,
Vicky

Thanks for your replies Vicky and Jon!

Yes, the basic license covers the first 5 users and the the user extension covers additional users.

So if I see this right, you don't pay a fix price to get software maintenance, but you have to pay for every user.

In my case we have 80 user accounts. So if I want to get the software updates for kerio, I have to buy the software maintenance for the basic license + software maintenance for every additional user. Is this right?

Hi Philipp,

Yes that is correct. That is the way our software maintenance works, when you renew you have to renew for all users so that all users can have upgrades, AV protection and ActiveSync capability.

Let me know if you have any other questions about this.

All the best,
Vicky
