I've moved our server to KC 8.5.1 (from 8.4.3) and faster hardware and, especially, disk and on one account am seeing this in the Mail log:
Recipient: <user<_at_>example.com>, Result: delayed, Status: 4.3.0 Recipient's mailbox busy
Every message for this account (and only this account) has this error. A few seconds later it is delivered, but I'm trying to figure why just this one account and what is causing the message to be generated.
Any suggestions on where to start troubleshooting?
Thanks.
Cheers,
Jon

Is there any limitation/restriction that applies to this mailbox that has been reached? Quotas can be viewed by the user themselves in the Webmail Client under Settings-->My Quota
On the server you can look at the Users table and turn on the columns:
- Storage Quota
- Storage Used
- Item Count Quota
- Item Count

Ken,
Thanks for the tips. I have a couple of more items to add to this:
There have been, when looking at Opened Folders, I'm seeing the following Users: user<_at_>example.com, $message_store, $index_agent and Reference Count is 37 and incrementing upwards. I had a Ref Count of 79 at one point today before I restarted the server.
Also, when I look at User Statistics, Disk Space is 40.6 GB and Item Count is 273493. This account is the largest on the server.
I disabled Full text search earlier as that was another connection to the Inbox.
I can't even open webmail for the account-just spins on Initializing the whole time.
And, in the time I've spent typing this, the Reference Count is up to 49 and climbing.
The server was on 8.4.3 at the start of the day last Friday and I updated to 8.5.1 after migrating the data to new storage. No other accounts seem to be affected at the moment.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers,
Jon
Update <_at_> 1505: The Ref count is back to a "normal" of 2 and those two processes are no longer hitting the account. To get there, I ended up creating a temp account and setting a forward from the problem account to the temp account so that the person could at least see his messages.
I'm gonig to delete the temp account, putting it's mailbox under the real account, but I'd like to know why this happened. I'd also like to re-enable full text searching, but am a bit nervous about doing so regarding the load it might place on the server.

The same issue happened again yesterday.
Reference Count hit 60+ and any client application, including Connect Client, was unresponsive.
Never saw this before 8.5.1 (upgraded from 8.0.2 to 8.4.3, then a couple weeks later to 8.5.1)
No restrictions/quota or forwarding in place.
Yesterday it was $message_store that seemed to be the culprit. Then, just as suddenly as it started, it was gone.
Is there something in the debug log I should track to figure out what's happening.
Thanks.
Cheers,
Jon

Hi Jon,
The debug log contains an entire section of messages that can be tracked that are related to the Message Store. You my want to investigate that on your own. That said, my recommendation is to call Kerio Tech Support at this point.

Ken

Hi We have just experience something very similar, one single users account got hammered with hundreds of these:
[18/Sep/2015 15:34:18] Sent: Queue-ID: 55fc0cb3-0000e048, Recipient: <user.account@example.com>, Result: delayed, Status: 4.3.0 Recipient's mailbox busy, Remote-Host: 127.0.0.1, Msg-Id: <D221CA05.FFA2%schedules<_at_>globallistings.info>
it went on for a couple of hours then just stopped.
The account does have the second largest mailbox at GB with no limit on storage or item count (clearly).
Not sure what difference it would make but users on OS X and the mail server is Windows 2008 R2 running kerio connect 8.5.2
if anyone has any suggestion i'm all ears

Finally got to the bottom of our error, it was the Kerio built in backup running that was stopping the mailboxes from being accessed.
The users who experienced the biggest interruption was those with the biggest mail boxes, which stands to reason.
Hope this help with others diagnosing their issues.

Has anyone made progress resolving this issue? We are seeing this since updating to 8.5.3. Its happened to multiple users, both OS X mail and Outlook on PCs. About all I find in common is that all of the users have iPhones. I've seen reference counts at 220+, sometimes restarting the server clears it up, sometimes we reindex.

the problem is not in backup in my situation.
If in your situation is problem in backup, the config applies immediately , but acess to backup file stops after backup job ends.
In my situation Apple devices make full sync via imap with mail folder and definitely hangs hard disk))
