We are testing Multi-Server 8.5 in preparation for an Exchange migration to Kerio.

In testing I noticed that Puppet Master will let us install more than one Directory Server.

A couple of questions based on this:

Will Kerio Multi-Server systems leverage multiple Directory Servers?

Does Puppet Master enable the framework for any sort of multi-master LDAP replication?

Now, if the answer to the first question is 'no' then the second question is a 'no' as well.

If the answer to the first question is 'yes' then I would suspect that we could enable multi-master replication between the Directory Servers in whatever way OpenLDAP supports (been awhile since we have used OpenLDAP but I know it can do this).

Final question, does Puppet Master add/create any framework for backing up the OpenLDAP directory using say slapcat? It is not a burden to do this ourselves but no need to reinvent the wheel if the mechanism is already in place or handled in a different manner.

I appreciate any advice or guidance you may have on this.

Kerio multi-server doesn't enable any kind of LDAP replication nor LDAP backup. Deploying two directory roles in a single multi-server environment will not do any good at the moment.

Thank you for the response, is something like this on the Multi-Server roadmap?

Hi Nate,

not yet on the roadmap, but is likely to get there if we spot a demand. It's definitely a very good suggestion.

Thank you for that.
