Since the actual licencing costs for ActiveSync aren't very much (when someone like Kerio does it on a large scale), why doesn't Kerio offer an alternative maintenance fee that only covers ActiveSync? The initial purchase cost only appears to be $2/user/year. It would be a low enough cost that people wouldn't complain (too much) and Kerio wouldn't lose any money on it.

I support several companies that use Kerio. They always fall into 2 camps. One wants to upgrade every time there is a new version (and thus pays the maintenance) and the other wants to find a version that works and stick with it until it doesn't work.

I am disappointed that Kerio will be forcing a full maintenance cost if all you really want is ActiveSync.

Everyone who must resolve problem with crashed Exchange knows that this is problematic task. Kerio Connect running on linux server with zfs filesystem is stable and fast (300 users).
There is no reason to compare cost of Exchange (no backup, no antivirus, need to buy new if new version is issued,...) and Kerio Connect.
And there is BIG difference between administration of Exchange and Kerio Connect.
Yes SWM is not cheap but for a years of deploying it without problems is cheaper then TOC of MS Exchange. This is one big reason for using Kerio Connect.
