I have a customer with 200+ accounts that needs a new mail server.

I'm thinking of doing this in Amazon's cloud.

Does my head need adjusting, or is this a good idea?

I've got a test server running now and it's working fine on a micro instance, but I have no way to put it under load.

I'd make the instance bigger, of course, but I don't know if I should proceed with this thinking or start thinking new?

Thanks,
Will O'Neal

Alas, yet another excellent question that has gone ignored by the very people we depend on for accurate, pertient answers....

I'm sure Will has long ago made his decision, and I would have loved to have seen some banter about it here, as I am considering this as one of my going forward scenarios.

Hope you did well, Will!
Care to share what you ended up doing?

I ended up on Linode. It was a good choice at the time, but it is expensive. Very fast. Zero problems with reliability. But due to the expense, I'm looking to move elsewhere now.

I can recommend Vultr and Digital Ocean

I want to say that I think I've seen it discussed elsewhere that Kerio on AWS is not recommended due to the way amazon calculate usage and IO.
