Hi,

I am testing the new delegate mailbox option and I it works great, but I have one problem with it.

In our company we have a few shared mailboxes that is being used to send and receive mail by multiple users with IMAP.

Now with the new Delegated Mailboxes, we can easily manage the users that need to have access to those mailboxes without having to manually add the IMAP account to every users outlook.

I have only one problem that I can't find A solution for:

How can I tell Outlook (or Kerio) that sent mail from the info@domain mailbox needs to be saved in the info@domain sent items folder instead of the Sent Items folder of the user that is sending it?

This functionality is pretty crucial as every user that has access to the info<_at_>domain mailbox needs to have access to the sent emails.

Microsoft has A registry solution for outlook that gives this exact functionality with Shared/Delegated Mailboxes on Exchange or Office365 (and I have this working with a office365 trial) but it does not work with Kerio Delegated mailboxes.

Quote:
Install the Outlook 2010 hotfix package that's dated December 14, 2010. For more information about this hotfix package, see the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
2459115 Description of the Outlook 2010 hotfix package (outlook-x-none.msp): December 14, 2010
Enable the hotfix by adding the DelegateSentItemsStyle registry entry, and then set the entry's value to 1. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Pre ferences
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
Type DelegateSentItemsStyle, and then press Enter.
Right-click DelegateSentItemsStyle, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
Exit Registry Editor.

It is indeed not logical behaviour.

The mail should appear in the sent items folder of the user that has deligated the account of both sent items folder.

Else there is no way that you know a mail is sent.
Sharing the sent items folder is not an options.

Situation:
4 managers delegate their accounts to a secretary.
That secretary may sent on be halve of all 4 managers but she may not share her sent items folders with all the managers. All the managers could see the sent mails from the other managers.

Just lost a 20 user Kerio connect customer because of this odd behaviour.

to be fair to Kerio this is an issue on other mail servers too

As an MSP we've seen this issue on in house Exchange mailboxes, Office365 and Google Apps

The only method we've found that works is to setup the delegated mailbox as an IMAP folder which in most cases isn;t ideal and kind of defeats the object of delegation

In that case. It is ok... bump.

If Kerio changes this (and it can) than they would just approved their product and shows it is listening to the user and not just building an Exchange copy.

To be fair those other mailserver do:
- Threading in webmail
- Allow sending mail with any from address (most visited question on our website!)
- Multiple signatures

So not doing because others are also not doing that is not really an argument imho.

Please don't get me wrong I'm not defending the lack of certain functionality on the basis no one else does it.

Kerio is great product I was merely responding to your comment about Kerio losing a customer over odd functionality

That said if you can find a product that does what you need with the sent items I would certainly be interested in knowing about it because I have customers looking for the very same solution.

I have the same problem here. Is there still no solution?
A workaround would probably be to configure both accounts at the same time in Outlook (on the delegate's PC)... ugly and defeating the purpose.

You can create an outlook rule for all sent mail to have a copy stored in a specific folder.

2703723 Email remains in the Outbox when you use the DelegateSentItemsStyle registry value

If you're running Outlook 2010, install the Outlook 2010 hotfix package that's dated December 14, 2010. Then, follow these steps.

For more information about this hotfix package, see the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

2459115 Description of the Outlook 2010 hotfix package (outlook-x-none.msp): December 14, 2010

Note

If you're running Outlook 2013 or a later version, you don't have to install any hotfix.

Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.

Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\x.0\Outlook\Pref erences

Note

The x.0 placeholder represents your version of Office (16.0 = Office 2016, 15.0 = Office 2013, 14.0 = Office 2010).

On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.

Type DelegateSentItemsStyle, and then press Enter.

Right-click DelegateSentItemsStyle, and then click Modify.

In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.

Exit Registry Editor.
