I implemented MarkK's suggestions and it is helping - one problem I am facing and hopefully someone can give me some guidance is the following message in my warning log:

DNS failure while trying to find address 107.51.86.192.2.0.0.127.b.barracudacentral.org in blacklist Barracuda

I have 1000's of these in the log and I have read (and tested successfully as instructed) here: http://www.barracudacentral.org/rbl/how-to-use

Well, it seems the Barracuda DNS is not correctly configured in Kerio Connect. The server should ask for 107.51.86.192.b.barracudacentral.org and not for 107.51.86.192.2.0.0.127.b.barracudacentral.org.

Pavel - Thanks your message pointed me in the right direction. Everything on Barracuda's website reads: 2.0.0.127.b.barracudacentral.org as the BRBL. They don't state that the BRBL address should should be configured without the 2.0.0.127. Once you said that Kerio wasn't correctly configured it made sense to remove the 2.0.0.127 portion I had in the address, but reading the Barracuda website made me believe that I needed it.

Glad it was a simple user error / configuration issue.
