Hi All,
I have created a new Resource for a meeting room. Under the permissions everyone from the domain is allowed. However they do not get access to manage this resource such as the other two meeting rooms we have which seem to be setup in the same way. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Cheers
Tom

Unless I misunderstood something:
Resource permissions only says who can book the resource (i.e. add it as a resource in calendar appointments), not who can manage it. Only the resource manager can delete and move (or manage) appointments in resource calendars.
If you want everyone to be able to edit a common calendar freely, use a regular public folder calendar instead.

Not true.
Resource calendars can be set up with pretty granular access so that everyone, or just certain groups, can have reader, editor, or administrator permissions. At least on ver 7.4.3.
You can not do it in the Kerio admin console, however. In the admin console the administrator can only add the people or groups to the list via the permissions tab, but not actually set the level of access they will have.
In order to set the access level, the reservation manager can do it from an email client. I prefer to do it by logging into the web client and setting permissions on the resource that way, but I have also done it via Outlook2010 by going to the resource properties -> folder sharing tab and setting permissions there.
Why the Admin can't do it via the admin console I don't know--it seems like a pretty lame design decision on Kerio's part, and makes for several extra steps in initially setting up a resource's scheduling permissions.
What I usually do when making a new shared resource is this:
- Admin console
- create the resource
- assign users and groups
- make myself the resource manager, and save
- Web Client
- subscribe to shared resource
- Right-click on the resource calendar and pick permissions
- change the permission level of the users and groups, and save
- unsubscribe from the resource
- Admin console again
Change the resource manager from myself to the actual resource manager.
Mid 2015: Quit Kerio and moved to Exchange 2013 and Meraki.
Kerio Control 8.4.0--Used since it was WinRoute, many years ago
Kerio Connect 8.4.0 on Ubuntu. Bought Connect just in time for the switch to NO SUPPORT(aka pay for support). Not. Happy.

Thanks for the correction (although I don't particularly like the phrase "not true". It sonds like I'm trying to get away with a blatant lie. Oh, well).
As for the design decision, you could ask yourself why the GenPop need anything but booking/cancellation access to a resource calendar. If users need to fiddle around with resource bookings after the fact or need to enter appointments directly into it, they are IMO doing things too complicated.
Unless, of course, the resource calendars in reality are used as normal, public calendars. Which make them sorta redundant.
I'm sure you have a fairly complicated reason for doing things the way you do, but I haven't.

It is different in the new and "improved" web client.
If you switch to the Old Webmail, you can still use the "Access Rights..." option when you right-click on a resource calendar.

Thanks for the info!
Is there a way to share the calendar so that each user can see the calendar alongside their calendar?
I know the way of going into the Kerio Connect properties in Outlook and adding it as an additional mailbox, but I was hoping to simplify deploying it.
EDIT: Nevermind. I figured it out. The users need to go into the webmail settings, then Folders to Sync, and they need to choose those folders under Resoureces. Awesome!

The biggest complaint I get from users about resources is that there is no visibility into WHO has the resource booked.

Pavel Dobry (Kerio) wrote on Mon, 01 February 2016 18:02Meeting organizer is subject of the event, when you book the resource. Booking is allowed only via standard meeting request.<snip>
Users who can book the resource can also see the calendar and see WHO booked the resource.
In The Kerio Client, I do indeed see the meeting organizer's name on the resource booking. However, 97% of my users live in OutLook, with the Off-line connector. So far, I have not figured out how to make that information visible to people creating a new meeting in OutLook using a meeting request & free/busy search.

Pavel Dobry (Kerio) wrote on Tue, 02 February 2016 15:29Freebusy in Outlook does not display details, indeed. However, playing with access rights for resource calendar does not change that. Every user who is able to book a resource can also subscribe its shared calendar.
Ahh. Attaching the room to my data file as if it were a "real human" sharing it's calendar with me. I hadn't tried that. I was simply right-clicking on 'calendars' in OutLook and choose 'Add Calendar / From room list', which is much more intuitive. Doing that shows the availability of the room, but not the organizer. Subscribing to the shared calendar has a couple draw backs.
- The user needs to know the e-mail address of the room, since they can not pick from the address book
- Once the calendar is attached, I see 'room<_at_>mydomain.com' in my e-mail folders (with sub-folders of 'Deleted Items' and 'Search Folders'. This is just added screen clutter. It also happens when users share their calendard (and only their calendar) with other users.
I'd rather see the 'Add Calendar' function show me the organizer. As I said, much more intuitive, and less screen clutter.
