We have several customers that have on-premise Exchange and we use GFI Mail Essentials for protection.
Over the last two weeks we have on a daily basis 1 or 2 or 3 different locations experience the same issue.
Mail running fine and then for some reason, nothing gets spammed (Sent to junk folder). All inbound emails are "OK" and sent to the users inbox. Fortunately, the antivirus still works and stops infected emails. A restart of the GFI services on the server sets this right again and filtering is back to normal. Here is the errors in the event log.

Then about a week ago, GFI must have changed something in one of the updates. Now, when then system stops scanning incoming emails, the emails are put into the security\failedmails folder. I the admin gets an email that there are failed mails on the server. I connect to the server and restart the services for GFI and then replay the files and the emails are delivered.
We have used GFI Mail essentials for a long time. Have been very pleased with the system. But something changed and it needs to be fixed. Anyone else seeing similar issues?
Here is the information about the different locations.
Both Server 2016 and 2019
Both Exchange 2016 and 2019
All running GFI 21.7
All servers are up-to-date on patches and exchange is up-to-date with the latest CU.
Anyone have a suggestions?
Thanks

Hello,
we have noticed the same behavior on our
system. We get the same
messages in the event log and then have to restart the
services.
Have you been able to fix the error?
We already had contact with the support
but unfortunately without success.
I do not want to reinstall the server
without knowing if it really helps.
We are running Server 2012R2 with Exchange 2016 and
Server 2019 with GFI 21.7 on a separate machine.
All up to date.
Best regards
Ole

Hello,
we also have the same problem with some customers. All with Exchange 2016 on prem and MESS version 21.7.
The problems started with the installation of patch 1, mid December 2022. Message in event log:
Plugin MonitoringActivity reports exception. ERROR.MonitoringActivity.PluginProcessingFailed. Additional info: ERROR: ProcessItem: exception [System.ApplicationException: ERROR: failed to process item bei MEC.MonitoringActivityThread.ProcessMessage(Object objContext)]
The problem is becoming more frequent.
We need a solution urgently or I have to shut down GFI MESS.
Best regards
Ronald

Hi,
We are having the same problems, all customers using combination Exchange 2013-2019 and MailEssentials 21.6 and 21.7. Yes some instalation are older and we are preparing to move Exchange 2013 to 2019 with MailEssentials 21.7, but this occurs in Exchange 2019 and MailEssentials 21.7 combination too.
We need to restart all GFI services, Exchange transport services and then copy all failed email into Replay folder.

I have the same issues !
I havent posted to confirm as was monitoring the forum.
You say the issue is being worked on a week ago, surely this should have been resolved now?
4 servers this morning, Eventid 4211 and no emails are being processed. Had to restart the services.
BTW where is the ' We highly recommend you subscribe to the GFI status page ' a link would be nice as I cannot find it.

We have had this issue for several months.
I has now got to the point where I have to schedule a GFI AS Scans service restart EVERY 15 MINUTES !
Mail is delivered completely un-scanned several minutes after either a server or gateway host restart.
I am running Bitdefender on the Exchange servers with RBL blocking as a backstop thought that is only 70% effective.

UPDATE...
My clients servers got an email at 11pm last night advising there is an issue and to disable anti-phishing updates until further notice.
I am an introducer and never got the same email.
Applying the fix last night all has been fine today.
