CalDAV using main password when 2FA enabled [message #151118] Thu, 17 February 2022 23:11 Go to next message

We have one person using a Mac, and was having trouble connecting her Mac email to her calendar after enabling 2FA. We tinkered around and discovered that we still have to use the main login password to connect via CalDAV, NOT an app password. I verified this by connecting Thunderbird to my calendar...I also had to use my main password as an app password did not work.

Is this by design? It seems like CalDAV should also be using an app password if 2FA is enabled.

Thanks!

Thanks brandonh75 for reporting this.

We are seeing the same issue here as well: CalDAV and CardDAV connections don't work using app passwords. Had to revert to main login password.

From macOS Console > Process "CalenderAgent":
com.apple.message.domain: com.apple.calendar.account_refresh_2
com.apple.message.__source__: SPI
com.apple.message.result: fail
com.apple.message.signature: CoreDAVHTTPStatusErrorDomain:401
com.apple.message.signature2: other
com.apple.message.summarize: YES
SenderMachUUID: *redacted*

Interestingly, Apple Mail using IMAP and SMTP does work with an app password.

Environment:
Server: Kerio Connect v9.4.1 on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
Client: macOS 12.3
