Twice in 24 hours, our Connect server has crashed. During the crash/recovery, it writes a file named 'core' to the program folder /opt/kero/mailserver. This file is big enough to take up all the free space on the disk. I WInSCP to the system, remove the file, and restart, and things go back to normal.

Connect 9.2.12 patch 1 (5027)
Debian 8.11, 64 bit
Running in VMWare 6.7

Edit:
I should also note that we are seeing extremely high CPU usage as well. No sign of any kid of DOS attacl

What is your free space? Is it more than the amount of available RAM on the system?
