This may be a silly time to ask this question after so many years working with Kerio Connect but I am asking a really basic question. For my desktop users who always connect to their in-house server from Outlook, am I doing the right thing for them by using KOFF? Should I have chosen a different protocol like IMAP or is KOFF the only way to synchronize email, calendars and contacts between Outlook at the desktop and the Kerio server. KOFF has served me well but one of the things that keeps coming up is searching speeds when the user has a large email store so I am asking this to see if I have simply done what I have always done and there is a better way. I suspect that I would get better results using webmail but that is not an option for users that have been on Outlook going back a decade or more.

Maybe what I am really asking is what are the core benefits of KOFF.

Thanks.

There are various approaches to this, but KOFF does give additional benefits and a more integrated feeling with Microsoft Outlook.

Speeds are indeed a pain point with KOFF, and in 9.2.11 we are addressing some of these. Improvements we have seen are on x64 builds of KOFF with Microsoft Outlook. (x86 do have some limitations)

We also suggest customers have SSDs, as faster disks do make a big difference.

You can use just MS exchange server protocol, (active sync) this works fine.

Until Kerio comes to its senses and brings back the ONLINE connector, yes. In theory you can also set up EWS, but we've had mixed results with that.
