Hi,
Having an issue with one user account, for some reason Kerio admin thinks one user has a mail store of 254GB or 230k emails, looking at the kerio store for this user it seems to be 20GB, which is what I would expect and the users apple mail store on their computer is also 20gb.
I have re-indexed the user, says no faults found, and I have restarted the kerio server, not fixed it either.
The large store is causing an issue for this user though, they are getting disconnected, server busy notices, user can't log in with the kerio connect app at all.
Any suggestions? before we backup the users store and delete....
Thanks

I regularly get similar due to massive amounts of duplicate files. This can be caused by the user trying to copy or move thousands of messages in one go. Somehow the process gets timed out (or something) and just keeps copying continuously. I have a mac server so I can use terminal command "ls <#msgs folder> | wc" to see if the number of files is still increasing or whether now stable. I then use dupeGuru to find and erase the duplicates (can be a very long process!).
If anyone else has a better way to find and erase duplicates, please let us all know!

Forgot to add to my previous reply... you can find which folder is getting the duplicates by checking the size of each folder inside the user's server folder. On mac server, in Terminal, I use "du -hd1 <path to user folder>"

i have many many times that has happened..
the user had decided to move or delete hundreds of emails via the app instead of webmail.. happens all the time the fix is to delete the mail account on the local computer and fix it via webmail and then re add the account back to the mail app.. seems to do the trick for us..
i have told the users if you are planning some heavy lifting of files - always do via the webmail.. sadly not everyone takes that advise.

i am having this problem in a big way today (company owner's account of course) User had deleted a lot of email from iOS on iPhone 11.
User now has a 'Deleted Items' folder which is at about 180GB.
User cannot log into webmail to delete the folder contents.
Can I...
1. Stop Kerio Connect via Syetem Prefs on Mac OS.
2. Navigate via OS on the server to the large foldere
3. Delete the files via OS on the server
4. Restart the server.
Are these steps a valid fix?
Do I need to be concerned at how long it will take to delete the 180GB,... can I restart Kerio Connect before deletion is complete?
thanks,
ft.

Depending upon how many messages are in the those folders, it might be quicker to delete via the command line as Finder can be downright slow deleting lots of files.
If you need to remove an entire folder of messages, I would recommend deleting the content of the #msgs folder (not the upper level directory with the actual folder name). You could do this while Connect is running, but whether it's running or not, you'll want to re-index the account ("Reindex Mailbox" in the web admin) after the fact, just to be sure that it sees the changes.
And if you need to delete the folder completely, do that after the messages have been deleted and the account re-indexed.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Cheers,
Jon
