We have our first Windows laptop in our office and I'm having a hell of a time getting Outlook to play nice with Kerio.

ActiveSync isn't an option with the lack of GAL access.

So, I'm trying the KOC route, but I'm getting the following error when attempting to install:

Error 28101. Failed to detect the version of Microsoft Outlook (File not found.). Click OK to see list of supported versions of Microsoft Outlook.

We're running 9.2.5 p3 and that corresponds with the KOFF I'm trying to install and this is with a full install of Office 2016.

Any ideas or best practices in getting Kerio to play nice with Outlook 2016 for Windows 10?

Thanks!

Did you try the KOFF or the KOC? KOC is EOL, you need to use KOFF.
Btw. connect to kerio per browser > integration link below the login > dl the autoconfig script Smile

Yep. That's exactly what I'm trying.

Filename: kerio-connect-koff-9.2.5-3336-p3-win.exe and then the autoconfig file: KOC_Profile_Config.cmd straight from our server.

I just can't get past that error in the Windows 10 machine.

AFAIK you need to start outlook - in some cases - at least once. Maybe thats the problem? Or maybe it wont work with office 64 bit? (if you use it).

KOFF is supported with Windows 10 and Outlook 2016....

[EDIT] You really have installed the real Outlook program and not some cloud/356 miniature version of it? (if that even exists)

Yep, started Outlook already and actually running 32-bit. Microsoft Outlook 2016 MSO - 16.0.9226.2114.

Thanks for your suggestions!

I have recently installed KOFF on a dozen systems with no real problems that were not typing errors.

I follow the route of using the Integrate with Windows link on the bottom of the Webmail screen (https://mailserveraddress), then use the 2 links on the left side of the screen under Kerio Outlook Connector. First I run and install from the download link on the left and when that is complete I use the link on the right marked download auto-config tool. When run, the tool asks for the credentials of the user and then runs a script that sets up Outlook and finally begins Outlook. At this point it will display the user but ask again for the password. At that point the new Outlook profile is created and I have the user up and going save for customising those areas of Outlook that the user wants to see including attaching their other PST files.

I even use this method for users at home and they can get to the tools and be installed in a small amount of time.

Are you doing your installation this way or are you directly going into Control Panel and doing the setup manually? Both should work but this one has done the trick for me at my most recent client and we have been running (on 9.2.5 patch 3 I believe) with no particular issues. Now if 9.2.6 had only been written to the same quality as 9.2.5 we would happily go on to our next opportunity - but that is a different discussion that you are likely aware of as you chose 9.2.5.

Have I missed something important that makes your setup different?

Nope, I'm using the "Integrate" link on our webmail screen like you mentioned and then logging in for the config tool.

The problem is that the initial koff .exe won't install and is generating the error 28101.

I can't get a good list of which versions of Outlook are supported, but I'm not running anything exotic.

I'm getting a message, "Failed to detect the version of Microsoft Outlook (File not found.)" when trying to install.

If running 32-bit Outlook on 64-bit Windows, you need to make sure you are installing 32-bit KOFF. We have had problems where running the exe file installs the 64-bit version. I usually go to kerio.com/support/kerio-connect, click on Clients, and download the 32-bit MSI package.

So for the moment all I can offer is that we are on Outlook 2016 Home and Business (and a couple Office 365) and Windows 10 Pro as well as 7 Pro and even a few 10 Home and all of them did install properly. I am thinking that maybe you need to try a repair of the Office installation. Just a guess. Aside from this have you followed the GFI path for support with a ticket. It does actually help at times although I wouldn't do while holding your breath. I hope someone from there with access to the code can shed some light on what the program is hoping to find and where it is not finding it and then maybe we can each check our installations to compare what you and I see.

Well I just checked and we too are on Version 1804 Build 9226.2114 (Click to Run) and in About it reads
Microsoft Outlook 2016 MSO (16.0.9226.2114) 32-bit. So maybe our installations are similar except that mine works. Keep us informed and hopefully you will solve this and let us know.

P.S. I just heard that GFI dropped all their inside sales staff or almost all. Well that answers why no one responds to emails anymore. The never heard of forwarding or Out of Office. We now it works in Kerio Connect through 9.2.5!

I had this problem when using a click to run version of Outlook. Uninstall the Click to run version, download and install the full version.
