Sounds like your Server is busy and on high cpu usage. Did you restart your KC server? Did you check your active connections?

Thanks for getting back to me. Just haven't had time to post results of the saga. Had GFI support on phone for several hours last Wed. We were looking at everything from corrupted indexes to Too-Big inboxes. I was considered everything from an outside DoSA from a hacked account to a failing RAID.

Turns out it was Microsoft's fault (sort of, I like to tell myself anyway). They recently released Outlook 15.38 which I had been running for days (weeks?) without issue. On Tuesday I pushed out the update via Munki to my users. Wednesday morning the trouble started.

Turns out, this update made some change to the outlook DB which cause it to completely refers some but not all folders from the server. On one machine this was fine, and possibly on many machines with small mailboxes was fine, but on many machine, some with quite bloated accounts (upwards of 12GB), the server (Mac mini 10.10.5) couldn't keep up. With no error in the logs that said "too many copies of outlook are trying to resync from scratch) most of the day was spent trying to track down the cause.

Finally dawned on me the next morning when everything was fine until staff started arriving. I paged the building and had them turn off Outlook, and rebooted the server. Everything is ok now. We're on webmail until I go to one user at a time (about 60), open their Outlook, let it resync if need-be, then move on to the next.

Slow and tedious, but we have mail.
