Just came across this, redirecting here a related discussion in the D-A-CH partner portal that emerged recently.

For my clients, too, I can not use the footer (signature) feature in Kerio Connect Admin, because people insist they want to 1) see the signature while typing and 2) they want the sig to be inserted right below the text (in chain-replaies), not at the end of a chain message.

I do see the technical difficulty in 2) - how should the server know where to insert the sig?

I want to throw in 2 ideas:

A) Is there a way to make KOFF automatically configure Outlook to create a sig according to centralized settings? (Maybe hard to implement, you probably have thought about this. But that would surely satisfy all wishes.)

B) Would it be possible to have Outlook insert a "signature" that is just a tag like [%KCFOOTER%]. Then, KC server could replace [%KCFOOTER%] by the signature. If the server does not find the tag, it would fall back to insert the footer at the end. That way, we would at least keep the advantage of centrally administering the footer text, and ensuring it is there (compliance).

Best,
Philipp

Completely agree with the above response.

What is the purpose of domain footers? Why would anyone want a cluster at the base of the thread? The chances of the recipient even scrolling down that far is slim.

So if you want the signatures displayed under each response, you will have to connect to each machine and create/modify a copy on there? This is time consuming and riddled with issue - we have no control over the user making modifications themselves which can obviously lead to inconsistencies.

A domain footer is footer text for legal compliance, or for informational and promotional requirements. The footer is added below the last existing text portion of a message. Even Google defines it this way.

I understand that much, but even if you are including text for legal compliance let's say - you still wouldn't want it duplicated several times at the base of the email would you?

We tried to use the domain footer signatures as well. But the problem while sending a reply and the signatures placed only in the footer makes us go back to manually inserted signatures. I understand that KERIO is maybe not able to insert the signature just under a new reply - but I really like the idea of inserting a replacement tag like "##keriofooter## which could be replaced by KERIO with the specifiy signature. This would make it very easy for all Outlook users to use a globally formated signature.

You are right, but sadly, this won't work in any bigger business environments.
Also, if you limited the usage to this, why can I add personalized information to the signature? Advertising or legal information won't need this.

IMHO it would be best, to give the signature feature the tools, to be as practical and usefull as possible. So you can use it as simple "legit info" or as your standard company signature.

Maybe you could also split the "footer" to a "User footer" and "Domain footer". User goes to the tagged location, Domain footer to every mail at the end. This would be even better IMHO. (important: the footer needs to be set by an admin for all users)

Here's an example from practice:
Our ERP System (and any other I know) sends mail from the program per MAPI/SimpleMAPI etc.. That limits every mail program I know to a "text" mail. In Outlook I also have the problem, that the Signature won't be loaded, even if it's enforced.

As for other mail clients, they enable "text" mail, not HTML, so images won't work.

So I need to add the Signature within the Mail Server, because we have a standard signature EVERYONE needs to use.

Within Outlook or our ERP System I could set an additional "Signature" Tag like ##SIG## that could be easily and fast set on other Systems like smartphones and tablets too.

This way the signature would be where it should be. Even with answered or forwarded mails.
