HTML Signature length limitation [message #131637]

I'm trying to get an HTML signature installed for all of our accounts, but I'm over by about 1,000 characters.

Is there a reason for the 4095 character limit? Seems rather arbitrary.

Is there a workaround (a modification of the config file to change the limit)?
