I have a client using IMAP to connect from Outlook 2016. When a folder is created with a forward slash in its title, e.g.

This/That

it is synchronised up to the server as two folders,

This
- That

prompting various synchronisation error messages.

We have worked around this by renaming those folders to remove the slash. Is this a known problem? I couldn't find it in my brief search of the forums.

My guess is that the mail server OS is intercepting the "/" as a folder delimiter. When the Kerio service issues a 'make folder' command, this is seen as a parent & child pair.

Well, this seems to an IMAP feature. Kerio Connect announces "/" as a folder delimiter:
a NAMESPACE
* NAMESPACE (("" "/")) NIL (("Public Folders/" "/"))
a OK NAMESPACE command completed

So unless IMAP clients encodes this character in a different way, it is used as a folder hierarchy delimiter.

Special characters like spaces, / and others should be avoided in general, when working with IT environment. Wink

Only possible exception: passwords
