Passive-subscribe user on mailinglist [message #128524]

I would like for some users to be able to send to a ML, but not receive any mails from it. We have two major use cases in our organization:

* Automated scripts that mail statuses
* Aliases of users that they post under (first.last@company rather than login<_at_>company).

Is this possible? Is there any other way to achieve this?
