Hi,

One of our users created an Email Rule in OS X Mail that ended up duplicating a heap of emails.

I'm talking thousands of emails, Gigs and Gigs of worth. Mad

Can anyone suggest the best way to remove duplicated emails in bulk?

We have access to OS X or Windows systems.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks.

Hi Brett,

There are a few ways to do this:

1. Through WebMail and slowing deleting these manually. This is the safest way to do it but is also the logest as you can only do a maximum of 200 items at a time through old webmail.

2. Through Apple Mail, but only delete a couple 100 at a time other wise Apple Mail can cause duplications as well which would add to the issue.

3. Outlook on a Windows machine can use a piece of software that can remove duplicates pretty safely (http://www.vaita.com/odir.asp). I have had many customers use this and have not had anyone come back to us with an issue, however because this is not a Kerio piece of software we cannot guarentee how it will function with your Kerio server.

I hope this helps you out a little,
Vicky

Vicky,

In your experience with Outlook Duplicate Items Remover, can it handle a folder with ~10k in duplicated messages? I've got a few public folders, which are now offline, with that many messages and need to fix them so I can bring them back online.

I've tried several Thunderbird extensions for this task and all, while correctly flagging the duplicates, fail during the cleanup process.

Thanks.

Cheers,
Jon

Hi Jon,

The tool should be able to handle that no problem. Just make a copy of the folders in case anything happens.

Best Regards,
Vicky
