Hi,

We can create SPF and Caller ID for incoming messages but how we can create SPF or Caller ID for outgoing messages ?

Some of the users informed me about some of the sending mails doesn't reach to recipients but not turning any error message, so i've talked with hosting company and they said i need the create SPF and Caller ID record to fix it, i've found many articles about how you can create SPF & CID under spam filter for incoming messages but my hosting says i need to create for outgoing mesages.

Any ideas how we can do it ?

SPF and Caller-ID are designed to protect your email domain against spoofing. You as an owner of the domains should publish them in DNS and every other email server should check incoming emails if they pass SPF and Caller-ID checks.

There is not special record for incoming or outgoing.

let me explain, we don't broadcasting our domain, our domain hosting by a hosting company, our kerio just connecting to pop servers of host downloading and serving local clients, and for SMTP we are using Relay mode every outgoing mail sending via one mail account connecting to hosting company's SMTP server.

As far as i understand in this case my hosting company is the DNS admin or owner, so that SPF and CID records must be defined by them, am i right ?

It depends on how your contract is. I'll explain it a bit from the basics, no offense, but I don't know your level of expertise.

If you own a domain like google.de, you "buyed" it over a provider, said provider has a registered DNS Server (Domain Name Service, translates the ip numbers to names and back). In this DNS Server there is your registered domain and - if the providers hosts your mail system - they inserted the mx entries. So if a mailserver wants to send your server a mail, it asks the dns for the domain / subdomain of the mailserver (mx entry) and connects to the mailserver.

When you don't have any access to the DNS System (check your provider config system, where you can add etc. mailaccounts), you have to write him and he should be able to add an SPF entry. The SPF entry is basically a text info in the DNS. There the other mailserver that checks for spam can see, what IP's/Mailservers are allowed for your domain to send mails. In the SPF Entry should be the IP of the providers mailserver and your local IP (the one that connects you to the internet). If you have a dynamic IP, that would be a problem, because you need a fixed ip address.

Also - should be possible with company internet services and fixed ip - you should set a reverse dns entry for your local internet ip with the same name of your mailserver.

IMHO is the way you do this not the best one. You can easily set up your local kerio for sending and receiving the mails directly. That is way faster and has way less problems or things that could go wrong. Also it's easier to auth for any kind of antispam stuff.
