DNS setting changes ignored [message #115464] Thu, 14 August 2014 19:16

Short version:
I need to pick a different DNS server for Kerio Connect. I changed the Internet Interface IPv4 DNS server setting, hit Apply, but Kerio Connect is still using the original server. It has completely ignored my change.

Long Version
My HR dept is trying to get a form from WWW.EEOC.GOV, but is getting a DNS lookup failed message when going through our Kerio proxy.
According to the Kerio Control debug log, our isp's DNS server is rejecting the query. Not timing out, not responding unknown, but rejecting. All other queries in the log (such as online.wellsfargo.com, or us.hola.com) got responses.
[14/Aug/2014 09:53:30] {dns} [ 32175 ] Querying server 69.145.248.50, query www.eeoc.gov (attempt 1)
[14/Aug/2014 09:53:30] {dns} [ 32175 ] Reply from 69.145.248.50
[14/Aug/2014 09:53:30] {dns} [ 32175 ] Server 69.145.248.50 rejected query
Not a problem when I use my laptop to bypass the proxy and use Google's DNS server, 8.8.8.8.

So, I changed the Internet Interface IPv4 DNS server setting, by un-checking Autodetect and entering 8.8.8.8 into the field. I then hit OK and Apply.
The config log reflected the change: "UPDATE Interfaces_v2 SET DNSServers=8.8.8.8 WHERE ...."

However, the debug log still shows entries like
"Querying server 69.145.248.50, query notify8.dropbox.com (attempt 1)"
and www.eeoc.gov continues to fail with the rejected notice.
DNS cache is enabled, but hitting the Clear Cache button makes no difference.

WTH Kerio? What do I have to do to get Kerio Control to actually accept the change?

Mid 2015: Quit Kerio and moved to Exchange 2013 and Meraki.
Kerio Control 8.4.0--Used since it was WinRoute, many years ago
Kerio Connect 8.4.0 on Ubuntu. Bought Connect just in time for the switch to NO SUPPORT(aka pay for support). Not. Happy.
