Hi there,
I use kerio control as my home firewall. I work at home too and let´s say the nature of what I do asks for added security.
With the introduction of auto login for hosts based on MAC addresses, I tried configuring some users based on MACs. The idea was quite simple - just to make it easier to search logs, accounting, etc, I tried adding a user for each device I have at home.
Today, I have three (yes, that's right - 3 "human" users, myself, my wife and my father), but I have lots of hosts: 2 PCs, 1 server with 8 VMs, 4 notebooks and 7 mobile devices and at least 5 more hosts, including appleTV, TV, Sky etc.).
Last time I checked, Kerio licensing is like this: for each user, you might have 3 additional hosts (like, say, a mobile, a tablet and a notebook).
Everything was fine (I have 10 licenses). But when I started adding a user for each device, kerio started complaining saying that user ABC wouldn´t be allowed access because the number of licenses I have is not enough.
O-kay.
The question is: will I have to buy more licenses if I simply want to create users for my devices or are there any workarounds? I am not trying to circumvent Kerio´s licensing (the number of real users is the same)... I wonder how this licensing model will deal with the Internet of Things...
Thank you in advance.

Based on the "Licenses and registrations in Kerio Control" knowledge base article:
http://kb.kerio.com/1300
"User is defined as a person who is permitted to connect to Kerio Control. Each user can connect from up to five different devices represented by IP addresses, including VPN clients."
Open Active Host under status in web admin usually give you an idea how many hosts are being used.

Thank you mlee, but how come that I have 10 licenses, 22 hosts in the Active Connections and I am getting the following message, the minute I started adding users for each host:
[05/Aug/2014 17:44:54] License error: License exhausted, cannot allow another user (host.iot.xxxxxxxxx).

What are the value of active Users/Devices in the License tile under dashboard?
In Active Hosts, right click on one of them and select "Logout all users" and restart Kerio Control, this should refresh the numbers.
If issue persists, please contact Kerio Technical Support with the support info and license ID.
