Changing email address / Renaming email address [message #55690]

Hello Friends,

Hope one of you can help me. I have a user who will be getting married and I have been asked to change her email account and I was wondering if there is an easy way to do this.

We are thinking the followings but we think there must be something easier than this

1. Create a new email account and setup a forwarding on her old email account OR
2. Create a new account and copy the emails from old account to new account

If there is an alternative way to achieve this I will appreciate if you could post it so others can share this scenarios.

Unfortunately, not a clean way in KMS.

Roughly what we do is:

- Rename user account appropriately.
- Rename their mail folder in the KMS subdir to their new username ($KMSDIR/store/mail/jdoe to $KMSDIR/store/mail/jsmith)
- Use grep or findstr.exe to recursively search $KMSDIR/store/lists for old username, then change each occurrence in the KMS Admin Console

Dell PowerEdge 2850 (Dual Xeon 3.2ghz and 2 GB RAM)
~1300 users
~1000+ concurrent IMAPS connections
iPhone users
Outlook 2007 KOFF users

The way we do it is-

1. Add a new email account
2. Delete the old address and copy the users files into the new account
3. Create an alias for the use that points the old address to their new one.

In my opinion the easiest thing to do is simply to make an alias to the old account with a new name.

That way you won't lose the mailbox rules and spam learning and the user can use both accounts..

I would not recomment do manually change the mailstore folders .

If you delete a user account by the kms console and choose to move the contents to the new account remember to save the mail processing rules.

Thanks, All sorted!

What I did was, I created a new user account and created a user profile using KOC on outlook. Went back to the mail server and stopped Kerio Mail server services and copied the mail store from the old account to the new account.

***** Never copy the following files __keriomapi__STORE, filter.siv, settings, stats, sub.fld, specguid.fld and folder.txt

Hello - I know this is an older topic, and I have read here as well:

Between these 2 topics, there is essentially 3 different ways suggested to rename a user. The one which seems simplest (create new account, delete old account) doesn't seem like the best option as I understand it only moves messages/folder... but doesn't move Filters/Rules/etc.

If there's any better suggestions, please point me in the correct direction - including a RTFM
