Is there a way to define permanent chat rooms server-side? We are currently using IpSwitch instant messenger. It has permanent groupings of users, that we can send IM's to at any time

Chat rooms can be managed from client side only. Use Adium, Pidgin, Psi, or another xmpp client capable to configure room after it has been created. This way you can create persistent chat room and invite any group of people.

That's too bad. I'll put in a feature request. For me, the ideal set up would be when I make a group, I have the option to create a server-side chat room for that group.
