Hi guys,

well, did some research but couldn't find an answer. Hope you can help...
Btw. - running the lastest 8.1.x version, upgrading to 8.2.1 soon.

I need a way to get access to a users mailbox to read their mails and forward them if needed or get another user to access the mailbox. No, I don't wanna do something bad ... I could read them anyway Smile

Before kerio we had exchange, so when a user was ill or forgot to set his out of office info with mailforward, I gave his named substitute full access to his mail account.

How can I do something similar in kerio? Archive is no option, because it holds ALL mails from all users. Direct access to the mail folder is - of course - a no-go too. In the admin account I don't have the possibility to share his mailbox to other users ...

So I'm a bit lost here. Forward with the admin would be an option, but still I would need access to the folder to read the mails he already got (without taking up 2 hours doing it "manual").

And no, password reset isn't an option too - we run kerio against an ad/dc and a changed pw with a quite restrictive policy let's the users get mad easily. Same with employee telling me or his substitute his password. No way ...

Any ideas? Hint where to look? :3

Thanks!

*bump*

No ideas yet? Had the problem today again, employee calls in sick, I can't give anyone access to his account, even as admin. Only a forward, but he already received some mails.

Boss wasn't really pleased with the needed change to kerio from sbs and now he's really pissed about it (and me) Sad

Dear Maerad,

have you recognized, that the new Kerio Connect 8.2 supports full delegation?

You should give this a try.

Hi, thanks for the answer.

Yeah, I know about the new delegation feature, even thru we don't use 8.2.1 yet (comes this weekend).

But from what I read in the release notes, the administrator can't set the delegation for a user, the user needs to set it himself. Problem is, that if the user is ill, he can't set it, so I need to do it.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Smile

Your are right.

But hasn't got an Admin the password anyway or at least knows, how to set a new one Wink

Actually - no. There are laws about the data protection and security. I'm not allowed to know the passwords of the users, that's why the user has to declare a substitute for him. A password change wouldn't be the problem, but kerio is bound to our AD with password policy's, so the users wouldn't be able to change back to his old password (24 passwords are need to be set so he can use the first one again).

Everything I do with access to user files, mails etc. I have to do in correspondence with out data protection official. Technically it's not a big deal, the "problem" is, that we actually acknowledge the privacy of our employees - something most company's don't really care about - sadly.

For now I have to work with the password change I guess, but in the near future, it is really important to add a feature that gives the admin the option to select a delegation in the admin menu or that the user can select 1-2 substitutes for his mail account, those are "disabled" by default and I can activate the access for them over the admin menue.

Not really happy about that - I already see the users cry my ears out because of the changed passwords :/

Anyway - thanks for the answer and help Smile

You are absolutely right. I did not meant it too serious. But "in a case of emergency"..

I just want to encourage you to use the "Suggest idea..." button within the Webadministration to file your wish/suggestion.

I really didn't take it seriously, just wanted to stay my problems with it. Even in the case of an emergency, we're not allowed too. Bad Laws I guess, still not made for new ways of communication Sad

You won't believe what do's and dont's there are in case of mail.

Well - already added it as wish/suggestion, just hope many ppl will vote for it now Smile

I know exactly, what you mean.

As I am settled in Germany, I know that laws are far behind actual processes, especially in IT business Sad

Hello,

We are more than a year later now. Is it by now possible to do this ? I need to create a new Active Directory account for a user with a Kerio mailbox and I figured I could grant this new account "full access" and "send as" permissions to the existing mailbox so he wouldn't lose his mails.

How can I do this ?

Or is it possible to export the current mailbox to a .pst or something ?

Thank you very much,
