SSL Certificate [message #102042]

I am trying to obtain an SSL certificate from an authority and am being asked which web server it will run on. Does Kerio use IIS or does it use its own? (Windows environment)

Kerio Connect uses own web server.
Ask for Apache compatible certificate and don't forget also import/copy the intermediate SSL certificate if it is used by the certification authority.

Two questions:

1. If I'm requesting a certificate for mail.company.com with "subject alternate names" (like wan1-mail.company.com and wan2-mail.company.com) does that change anything about what I fill out for the certificate request form in Connect? I assume that whatever goes in the request generates the contents of the ".key" file (or is it the .csr file?).

2. I requested a certificate from Starfield and the Apache-format had two sections in the "sf-bundle.crt" file. I also downloaded a Mac OS X 10.6 format certificate and that intermediate had only one of the sections. Any suggestions?

If you want to sign the certificate for multiple hostnames, you need to generate Certificate Signing Request (.csr) and private key (.key) somewhere else. Either by openssl utility or directly at your Certification Authority web interface.

If both parts have --BEGIN CERTIFICATE-- sections that there are combined intermediate ceriticates in a single file and you can simply import the .crt file via web administration or copy to proper /sslcert and /sslca directories as described in KB article.
