Well, you did some research already, only thing I can think of ...

If possible connect the mail server directly to the router and ignore any external firewall.
Dunno about your network layout, but if it's router > control in DMZ > connect then you could try out router (with firewall and port mapping) > connect for securitry reasons.

Also turn on all DEBUG protocols from connect.

I don't believe it's a problem with kerio itself, more a routing or blocking problem. otherwise the server wouldn't be reachable locally.

Could also be some kind of route problem or network hiccup. Maybe some ip address conflicts?

Hi All,

Thanks for the ideas, I would definitely tried them out - but I had no opportunity: the phenomenon did not pushed up its ugly head since then. Maybe it get scared about your comments... Anyway, thank you all again the thinking and the effort to answer me, I think we can close this mystery for now.
