Recently upgraded to v14. Went through the procedure to turn on Block reason in the registry but started getting complaints from the user community that some items flagged as spam did not have their block reason listed in the subject. How do you turn on the block reason for all modules in v14?

We are having the same problem. Items blocked by the DNS Blacklist are tagged, those via Spamrazer (I can only assume that is what is blocking them as it is not tagged) are not. Basically, I need the ability to find a message that was processed as spam even though it was legit in order to find out why it was blocked and adjust my settings accordingly. Since I upgraded to v14, legitimate items that used to make it through are now being marked as spam. Thanks, Stephen

If you don't get an answer, you could work-around this by checking the "ase" debug log files in debuglogs, as this says what happened to emails. Depending on your email volumes, you might not get much "history" in here though.

RSP, I appreciate the suggestion but I'm not sure how that will help because I already know spamrazer did the flagging. We have the razer module writing to a log file and can see items flagged as spam by razer in both the dashboard and the log file. There's no question the item's being flagged by spamrazer. However, we utilize the block reason registry setting that appends the reason to the subject line. This helps the users know why items were flagged and when to submit them to our helpdesk for filter adjustments. All the other anti-spam modules appear to be appending the subject correctly except for spamrazer so we'd like to know how to turn on the block reason for spamrazer.

That would have to be an Administration task, rather than a user task. This is why I called it a work-around. Another option: SR tagging in the subject works if you use the "tag email with the following text" without having to have blockreason set to 1. Example: Message was found to be spam: (100%) IP is in RBL, So assuming you're delivering to a folder such as "Junk E-Mail", a 2-stage approach would be advised. Tag with some unique text, then use rulemgmt.exe to finally move it to the right place.

All, I have tested this in house and this issue has been escalated. I have been able to replicate the issues you are seeing with this as well so hopefully we will have a fix to this shortly. Thanks for letting us know what you found.
