12.3 Missing tabs to show "installed on" and "missing on" Friday, February 16, 2018 1:29 PM (permalink)
Anyone else install 12.3 and notice the tabs missing under Dashboard/Patches?   Before when you were looking for a patch that was either installed or missing, the bottom half of the screen showed three tabs:  Details, Installed On, Missing On.  For some reason they have removed one of the tabs.  Instead of being able to quickly alternate between Installed and Missing, now you have to go back to the Patch Types and search for either Missing or Installed patch types, find the patch and then the window will provide the two tabs:  Details, Missing On; or Details, Installed On.  In addition, the "Major Version Upgrades" does not have a type for "Installed Major Version Upgrades", just the missing.  So there is no way in this dashboard screen you can see what is installed.  This really sucks as there is no way to quickly alternate between the two.  This also applies to the Ports Dashboard but none of the other Dashboard tabs changed.
I opened a support ticket and was told there were interface changes to make it clearer and easier.

What version of LanGuard were you using before that displayed three tabs for Details, Missing On, Installed On?
Tip: When looking at one patch type say "Missing Security Updates", select a patch of interest e.g. MS15-058. A tab "Missing On" is displayed at the bottom listing all the computers missing this patch. If you now select the patch type "Installed Security Updates", the patch MS15-058, if installed on any of the computers, will be automatically selected in the list, and you will have the chance to see the "Installed On" tab at the bottom containing all the computers having that patch installed.
The above allows you to get what you need.
Regarding an "Installed Major Version Upgrades" type - that is not possible. A patch can only be flagged as a Major Version Upgrade with respect to the product version currently installed on each computer. On one computer one patch "MySoftware 5.9" may be a major version upgrade if it has an older version installed (e.g. 3.1), while on another computer that same patch may be a regular patch if for instance version 5.5 of "MySoftware" is currently installed. The "Major Version Upgrade" property is therefore not a property of a patch, but a property of a computer missing the patch. Once you install the patch, it becomes an "Installed security/non-security update".
